Education Highlights: In early May, the Philadelphia-based Kahlo Quartet visited over 350 students at Southwark School and William Cramp Elementary School to share their dynamic children’s program featuring music by Haydn, Caroline Shaw, Billie Eilish, Luis Fonsi, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Education Highlights: Monday mornings are a bit brighter when a string quartet visits your classroom! Earlier this spring, the Ying Quartet presented an energetic and informative children’s concert to third, fourth, and fifth grade students at Alain Locke School in West Philadelphia. PCMS presents children’s concerts at libraries and schools across the city, engaging with hundreds of young students each season.

We`re looking back at last week`s duo recital with violinist Chee-Yun and guitarist Mak Grgić. PCMS audiences were treated to a tour of repertoire spanning the globe, from Slovenia to Korea, Argentina to Austria, the United States to Macedonia.

Thank you, PCMS artists and audiences, for a fantastic 23-24 season! This year, we welcomed over 200 artists to Philadelphia in 50 concerts at the Perelman Theater, Benjamin Franklin Hall, and Church of the Holy Trinity. Outside of the concert hall, we presented over 50 education and community programs in partnership with local schools and nonprofits.

We look forward to next season, when we will continue to bring the inspiration of great music —performed by world-acclaimed artists— for everyone in our community to experience and enjoy. Subscriptions and season passes are available now; single tickets go on sale August 1st.

Tonight at Perelman Theater, PCMS concludes our Arts on the Mind festival with the Philadelphia premiere of Marc Neikrug`s "A Song by Mahler," a music theater piece that speaks to the role of music in dementia therapy.

“The arts have a role for creating connection with other people,” said Dr. Jason Karlawish, co-director of the Penn Memory Center. “For giving meaning and maintaining a healthy mind despite disease.”

Ryan Bradford, known for his "warm, and sumptuous baritone," makes his PCMS debut in Marc Neikrug`s "A Song by Mahler" next Wednesday, May 15, with mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, the FLUX Quartet, and clarinetist David Shifrin.

Jennifer Johnson Cano embodies the role of a concertizing singer who is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, and Ryan Bradford skillfully navigates the role of her husband, who is also her accompanist.
