About This Performance

Praised for her imagination and exceptionally vivid playing, Einav Yarden returns to PCMS following her 2018 recital debut. A student of the late Leon Fleisher, the Berlin-based pianist brings a “sense of immense majesty, tempered by gentleness and quiet grace” (Washington Post) to a program that features Robert Schumann’s Kreisleriana, Op. 16—one of the major piano works of the Romantic era, in which the composer sought to capture the contrasting sides of his own character, as well as the essence of his future wife, Clara Wieck.

CPE Bach: Variations in F Major, Wq. 118/4
Haydn: Variations in F Minor, Hob. XVII:6
CPE Bach: Sonata in C Minor, Wq. 65/31
Haydn: Sonata in D Major, Hob. XVI:24
Kurtág: Játékok (Sel.)
R. Schumann: Kreisleriana, Op. 16

Running time: 1 hour and 50 minutes (including intermission)
